Back From The Dead
Our Story
Zune originally was a failed software program by Microsoft to compete with Apple's iPod.It was also a portable music device. The reason it failed was due to the fact that Apple was able to launch its product at a much faster rate. Zune was not released until five years after the first iPod. Making it hard for Zune to compete with a device that is already popular. Releasing updated versions of the Zune also continued to lag behind new Apple products. Along with this, the Zune did not have any unique features apart from the iPod making it hard to market. All of this led to Zune’s downfall and it was shut down in 2011.
The New Zune
To reinvent Zune we want to stick to its basis of using music as our product. Rather than create a physical product we want to create a program that's on par with music player apps like Spotify and Apple Music. Rather than make only a music player Zune wants to focus on creating an app that recommends new artists based on the consumers' listening history. Imagine you’ve listened to your favorite artist's music so much that you tire of it and want something new but similar. Zune’s new app will take that artist and focus on looking for similar artists. This creates an ever-continuing library of new music that suits your taste.
